    Day 1 Arrive in Lucerne, Switzerland

    Arrive Lucerne by train in 1st class from Swiss border or airport rail station. Lucerne is a thrilling city to visit! It is the storybook image of a Swiss town, abounding in cobblestoned streets, spires and turrets, covered bridges, frescoed houses and fountains. Overnight in Lucerne.

    Day 2Gotthard Panorama Express

    In Lucerne board a boat and glide across Lake Lucerne, past mystical coves and picturesque countryside. Travel past countless places from early Switzerland that are steeped in history.  In Flüelen the panorama train is ready to depart accompanied by a guide and takes you on the historical Gotthard route to Lugano. Overnight in Lugano (B)

    Day 3Lugano

    Time at leisure in Lugano. Enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere in the Southern part of Switzerland. Stroll along the lakeside promenade or go up to Monte Brè or San Salvatore. Overnight in Lugano. (B)

    Day 4Bernina Express - St. Moritz

    Depart by the Bernina Express (coach) to Tirano (Italy). Continue by train over the Mount Bernina to St. Moritz. This exciting trip takes you through three cultures from palm trees across the regions of eternal snow to the valley of the Rhine! Overnight in St. Moritz. (B)

    Day 5St Moritz

    Day at leisure. St Moritz is the original Swiss winter holiday-resort, a mountain-resort world-famous for its skiing, scenery and its relaxing spas! Overnight in St. Moritz. (B)

    Day 6St. Moritz - Zermatt Glacier Express

    Glacier Express

    Today board the Glacier Express which is one of the greatest train journeys of the world. Travel from St.Moritz to Zermatt. An 8-hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2,033 metres in altitude. Travel in comfort through the beauty of a landscape rich in mountain forests, alpine meadows, mountain streams and valleys, soaked in tradition and centuries old culture! Overnight in Zermatt. (B)

    Day at leisure. Consider taking an optional Gornergrat excursion.

    Day 8Depart Zermatt

    Depart Zermatt for Swiss border or airport rail station or alternatively continue your stay in Switzerland. (B)

    Gotthard Panorama Express

    Embark on a journey through some of the most beautiful regions in Switzerland. By boat and train you can enjoy the view of central Switzerland and Ticino’s wonderful mountain landscapes, natural wonders and marvels of railway construction.The journey on the Gotthard Panorama Express takes travellers from Lucerne by boat to Flüelen and onwards by train on a 1st class panorama coach or a 2nd class coach on the historical Gotthard panoramic route to Ticino.

    In Lucerne you first board a steam-boat and glide over Lake Lucerne, past mystical bays and picturesque landscapes, all while savouring culinary delicacies. You will pass countless locations steeped in Swiss history – most notably the Rütli meadow, where Switzerland was founded in 1291, as well as the Schiller Stone and Tell’s Chapel.

    In Flüelen, the panorama train will be waiting to depart on a journey along the historical Gotthard route. Here you have three unique views of the Wassen church, which has become world-famous thanks to the ingenious railway system and its many helical tunnels. Passing through the Gotthard tunnel between Göschenen and Airolo, which opened in 1882, the journey continues south. Here Ticino’s varied Mediterranean landscape awaits you.
